A new type of citrus fruit, developed in California, could reach store shelves next winter. The University of California has announced the new hybrid, called the Valentine. UC says the Valentine gets its large size and low acidity from the pummelo, a floral taste from the mandarin and its juicy red pulp from ruby grapefruit.

Not only that, but fruit breeders say that when the Valentine is cut in half and turned upside down, it has a vibrant red heart shape.
