Fat Boyz offers big New Year’s Eve party for little money

New Year’s Eve parties can be expensive. There’s normally a cover charge, your ticket price includes a pricey dinner or a long cab ride to avoid leaving your car at the bar.

Fortunately for Lindsay residents Fat Boyz Bar and Grill has got you covered.

Owner Gloria Morales said Fat Boyz will hold its second annual New Year’s Eve party from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Dec. 31. There’s no cover charge and both food and drink specials to keep your stomach full and your wallet from being empty. Appetizers include Fat Boyz famous Wingz, nachos, onion rings, etc. Fat Boyz will also be serving up free menudo to make sure everyone has eaten something before they leave the bar.

DJ Knight of Porterville will be back on the turntables for a night of dancing, door prizes and delicious food and drink. Morales said more than 200 people attended last year’s New Year’s Eve party and she is hoping for another good turnout.

While drink specials were not available as of press time, Fat Boyz is always serving its own pale ale and red beer. For those who haven’t tried it, Fat-Boyz Pale Ale is extremely smooth and drinkable. It offers a mellow hopiness with little to no bitter aftertaste. It’s a great beer to pair with almost any kind of bar food. In fact, Fat-Boyz Pale Ale sells better at Morales’ bar than better known microbrews such as Blue Moon, Shock Top and Sam Adams.

Fat-Boyz is an annual hit at the Lindsay Community Theater’s Brewfest and Woodlake Brewfest. The Red Beer is a goblet of clamato with an upside down beer in it mixed with a special ingredient.

“We want people to come and have a good time but be responsible,” Morales said.

Morales said local bar and grills like Fat Boyz make it easier for residents in small towns to drink responsibly. Instead of driving to Visalia or Porterville for a New Year’s Eve party, Lindsayites can have a nearby friend be a designated driver or just drop them off and they can have a short cab ride home. In fact, Getaway Cab Co. is located just around the corner by calling (559) 562-7777.

“We have their cards here and we pass them out to everyone,” Morales said. “People can stay in town and have a good time.”

Fat Boyz will be closed on New Year’s Day but will reopen on Jan. 2 in time for you to catch all of college bowl season as well as the NFL Playoffs leading up to the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
