Dr. Chiurazzi retires after 30 years

After 30 years of service to the city of Lindsay Dr. Bob Chiurazzi will be saying goodbye to his patients and friends.

The Lindsay Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the retirement mixer on July 31 at 5:30 p.m. There will be appetizers, refreshments, networking and great raffle prizes.

The retirement mixer will also be a time for patients to meet the new doctor taking over the 70-year-old dental practice, Dr. Julie Valle, DDS.

After graduating from Loma Linda University in Southern California in 1984, Chiurazzi moved to the Central Valley where he became, not only a trusted dentist, but an active civil servant to the community of Lindsay.

Chiurazzi took over Dr. Mead’s 40-year-old dental practice.

“Dr. Mead was a very compassionate dentist and I liked his style of dentistry”, Chiurazzi went on to say that most of their patients have only had two dentist their whole lives.

During his 30 year residence Chiurazzi served as an advisor to the local Key Club for 15 years. He also supported youth sporting teams, served as a past president of Lindsay Kiwanis, was the president of Lindsay Chamber of Commerce in 2008, and was named Lindsay’s Man of the Year in 2001.

Chiurazzi was named Lindsay’s Man of the Year for his instrumental involvement in the planning and construction of the ‘L’ which can be seen in Lindsay’s foothills. Along with Doug De Leo and his construction crew, Chiurazzi helped to organize the construction of the ‘L’ with roughly 70-80 high school Key Club students and local volunteers in one day. The team spent an entire day lifting sheets of roofing panels uphill.

Chiurazzi recalls the undertaking as one of the proudest moments as a Lindsay resident,

“We built the ‘L’ from 60 sheets of roofing paneling, it was a big project!”.

The ‘L’ is about 14 feet wide and more than 70 feet long and replaced the former ‘L’ which was formed out of rocks and off center.

While serving as an advisor to Key Club, Chiurazzi was awarded a grant that allowed for the planting of over 1,000 in a six year period throughout the city.

Reflecting on his time in Lindsay Chiurazzi said, “I felt that it was the ideal town for me. I felt that I could truly make a difference”.

There is no doubt that Chiurazzi has dedicated his life to the building up of Lindsay, but he feels that now is the time to say goodbye to his beloved community.

Chiurazzi is looking forward to retirement where he will be supporting his wife of 38 years in her blossoming career.

“My philosophy is to make my wife successful and financially stable”. Chiurazzi stated that after putting her husband through dental school and raising their family, together the couple felt it was time for her to go back to school.

Chiurazzi will eventually be joining his wife in Sacramento where she works in the field of prison psychology. Although he is sad to leave Chiurazzi said, “Lindsay has made me very successful and with my wife pursing her dream, I have peace of mind”.

Dr. Chiurazzi is thrilled to introduce Dr. Valle to the community of Lindsay. He encourages his patients to meet Valle and see for themselves what good hands they are being left in. Valle is bilingual and is wonderful with children.

In addition to the dental services provided, Valle will continue to provide anxious patients with oral sedation.
