Proteus, Inc. Board of Directors asks interested prospects to apply for two board vacancies

TULARE COUNTY – The monotony of everyday life can sometimes be a real grind. And sometimes it can leave well to do workers without a significant sense of purpose. As a result they look for more fulfilling opportunities outside of work. And just recently the nonprofit, Proteus is looking for applicants to apply for (2) vacancies on its twelve member tripartite Board of Directors.  Board members represent the public, private, and low-income economic sectors in four of Proteus’ service delivery areas:   Tulare, Kings, Kern, and Fresno Counties.   The current vacancies are for low-income representatives residing in Tulare, Kings, and Kern Counties.  All others interested will be considered.

The Board of Directors is responsible for providing oversight to Proteus leadership and its staff to ensure that Proteus’ mission statement is carried out.

“Joining the Proteus Board of Directors has been a rewarding experience,” states Richard Rodriguez, Board Chair.  “I’ve had the opportunity to serve with individuals from different communities, diverse backgrounds, and learn from those with different skills sets and expertise.”

“It has been an honor to volunteer for an organization that has a 50 year history of championing for farmworkers and other underserved populations.”  “If you have a service heart and want to make a difference in your community, this Board is for you.”

The Proteus, Inc. Board meets eight times a year, including a one day retreat in April and a two day retreat in October.  Members are required to serve on at least one of its standing committees that meet prior to each board meeting.   Applicants should be willing to actively participate in board and committee meetings, promote and advocate Proteus’ mission to the community.
