For the week ending November 17, 2018

SMALL GRAINS AND OTHER FIELD CROPS: Cotton harvest is completed in most areas and harvested fields are being shredded and disked under. Winter forage crops are being planted with some supplemental irrigation to get the seeds to germinate.

DECIDUOUS TREE FRUITS, NUTS, AND GRAPES: Pistachios are being exported to France, Spain, China, the Netherlands, Turkey, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vietnam, and Italy. Walnuts are being exported to Spain and Hong Kong, as well being sold on domestic markets. Almonds are being exported to Greece, Vietnam, Mexico, Belgium, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Jordan, Malaysia, Pakistan, China, the United Arab Emirates, and India. Pecan harvest is starting. Table grape harvest is ongoing with exports to Mexico, Guatemala, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, the Philippines, El Salvador, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, the United Arab Emirates, Korea, Malaysia, Honduras, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, and China. Persimmons and kiwifruit continue to be harvested, with some exports to Mexico.

CITRUS, AVOCADOS, AND OLIVES: Navel oranges, Mandarins, lemons and grapefruit are being harvested. Some navel oranges are being exported to Mexico and Korea, as well as being sold on the domestic market. Mandarins are being sold on the domestic market. Melogold hybrid grapefruit are being shipped to Korea and Japan. Pomelos are being exported to Japan. Specialty citrus, Finger Limes, are being exported to the Netherlands and China.

VEGETABLES, MELONS, AND BERRIES: Fall vegetables are available at local Farmers Markets. Acorn squash, Spaghetti squash, turnips, beets, yams, cauliflower, broccoli, and kale are just some of the choices.

LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY: The Fed Cattle price is up slightly to $116 per cwt.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Wholesale nurseries continue to ship small amounts of fall nursery stock to retail outlets in other states and within California. Bare root roses are being received for reprocessing and shipping.
