Momentum Broadcasting managed to collect $203,727 over their two day ‘RadioThon’ in March
VISALIA – Radio stations have normalized handing out free tickets and cash prizes over the decades, but this month they managed to get their listeners to pay them instead.
Last week, Momentum Broadcasting delivered over $200,000 in donations to St. Jude Hospital. Specifically, the company who owns 106.7 KJUG Country and 99.7 Classic Rock generated $203,727 in donations during their two-day “RadioThon” for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital setting a new record in donations for the hospital and besting the station’s previous record by $20,000.
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment, and their discoveries are used to treat children all over the world and right here in the South Valley.
Many children from Tulare and Kings Counties have gone to St. Jude hospital, where treatment is always free. Bill Lynch, general manager of Momentum enthused, “I’m incredibly proud of our staff, and their commitment to St. Jude. Despite donations being down across the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our staff was able to generate a record for the stations. This is a testament to the power of radio, and the fabulous staff we have working here at KJUG and 99.7 Classic Rock.”
The radio stations received record five figure donations from Kings Mortgage and Groppetti Automotive Family, as well as numerous large donations from local individuals and businesses.
