‘Knights’ to honor local heroes

@TheSunGazette

exeter – They take an oath to protect people they’ve never met.

They swear to serve those who are deserving and undeserving alike.

They come to the rescue of towns where they don’t reside.

They brave the fearful elements of fellow mankind whether by foe, flame or failing health.

They are among the finest first responders in our area.

They are heroes worthy of honor by knights of old.

And this Saturday, these heroes will be honored by the Knights of Columbus.

The Msgr. Joseph W. Balker Council 9068 in Exeter/Farmersville will hold its 25th annual Community Services Safety Recognition Dinner on Saturday, March 5 at the Exeter Memorial Building, 324 N. Kaweah Ave. in Exeter.

The event honors first responders in Exeter, Farmersville, Woodlake and Tulare County. A list of this year’s recipients for the Officer and Firefighter of the Year honors will publish in next week’s edition of the Sun-Gazette.

Social hour is at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. A prime rib dinner will be served. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased from any Knights of Columbus member.
