There were approximately 100 students trying out for the Poetry and Prose competition at Rocky Hill Elementary School in December. Students from each grade level chose a piece of literature to recite for the preliminary round. Just 55 students were selected to compete in the Jan. 13 contest.
The Rocky Hill finalists include: Victoria Burkett reciting the Gettysburg Address; Alisa Carstens reciting Giraffes Can't Dance; Danielle Jacobs reciting Sick; Elizabeth Mitchel, Laken Taylor and Katelyn Maurer reciting A Bad Case of the Giggles; Logan Naccarato, Jared Raffel and Jacob Mead reciting Drump the Grump; and Karyn Davis reciting King Ferdinand's Remarks.
