Student's art is chosen for calendar

Shanti Matkin, a third grader at Sequoia Union Elementary School, was recently honored at the Tulare County Board of Supervisors meeting during National Ag Week on March 16.

Matkin participated in the Farm Bureau Calendar Art Project. The Calendar Art Project solicits artwork form Tulare County students depicting scenes of local agriculture. Winners are honored at the Tulare County Board of Supervisors meeting. Matkin received her Certificate of Achievement in the K-3 category. Her sketch depicts the hills probably near her school. She also drew a red barn and a corralled horse.
