Renovations and additions to school property continues in Lindsay Unified School District.

At the July 12 meeting, board members approved a bid award for the Lindsay High School gymnasium building roofing project. The lowest bidder was Weststar Roofing at $97,535. The roof at the LHS gym had needed repair for some time. Director of Construction, Maintenance and Operations Del Corley said Weststar built the roof at El Diamante High School in Visalia. The LHS roof should be renovated before school is back in session. Money from the voter approved school bond will pay for the repairs. Cooling systems that are located on the roof will be removed and placed on the ground near the gymnasium. Corley said the machinery created more weight than necessary on the gym rooftop.

The board also approved a piggyback purchase of a portable that will be used for the Community Bilingual Education Tutoring (CBET) program. The portable will be placed between the district office and Washington Elementary School.
