Lincoln Elementary School Students will be surprised by the new decor in the library when they resume studies there.

Artist Michele Dunn is transforming the walls of the Library into a montage of storybook characters. The first mural is of Jack and the Beanstock. Dun spent all morning and part of the afternoon, Wednesday, Sept. 29 painting the mural on the wall.

The idea came from Lincoln administration and its soon to be Librarian Debbie Shearer.

"We thought the mural idea would be good and it would be something permanent," Shearer said.

The other four murals will be of an open book, the Three Little Pigs, Huey Duey and Louie, and Dr. Seuss and friends. But these will not be started on until the library can raise $400.

"Michele is doing them at a reduced price," she said.

Shearer hopes fund-raisers and help from Lincoln PTO will provide the funds to finish the four remaining murals.

Students have not visited the library since the start of school because Lincoln did not have a librarian. Shearer is currently the assistant PE teacher at Rocky Hill and Wilson.

When her position is filled there she will begin at Lincoln. Previously she worked as a resource specialist in reading.
