And the ‘Golden Apple' goes to

By Katey Garrett

A teacher at Exeter Union High School since 1970, Barbara Conley was honored with the Teacher of the Quarter award last week during the EUHS board meeting.

Although Conley currently teaches English, she started her career teaching physical education. As her passion for the students grew, so did her class size. Taking personal interest in her students' lives has always been important to Conley, who often advises clubs, teaches summer classes and tutors students after school.

In 2005, the high school honored the outstanding teacher when they dedicated the yearbook to her. Her hard work and passion for the students overflows into her daily conversations and actions. Appreciated by so many, the English teacher, who also teaches an occasional drivers education course, received the award from her husband and president of the board, Joe Conley.

&#8220Barb teaches Drivers Education on occasion and not only does she impact those in the classroom, but she impacts me as well,” said Joe. &#8220You'd be surprised at how much I have improved behind the wheel plus, you have to smile when you enter her classroom because all you see is apple decorations all over the place.”

Now, Conley can add the Golden Apple, which she received from the board, to her classroom collection. Exeter Union High School's staff and students congratulate Conley on another job well done.
