‘Grease' pulls into Exeter High

Exeter Union High School's Monarch Players are proud to present the rocking musical, Grease, the hit Broadway musical made famous by the 1978 movie with the same title.

The play centers around Rydell High's spirited class of ‘59 gum chewing, hubcap stealing, hot rod loving T-Birds.The wise cracking Pink Ladies in bobby sox, pedal pushers, and poodle skirts capture the look and sound of the 1950s in a rollicking musical.

While hip Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski resolve the problems of their mutual attraction, the gang sings and dances its way through such nostalgic scenes as the pajama party, the prom, the burger palace, and the drive in movie.

Grease's eight-year run made Broadway history and its recent long running revival put it among today's most popular musicals.

The Monarch Players will be presenting the School Version of this show. It is more suitable in content for teens, yet this abridged version retains the fun-loving spirit and immortal songs that make Grease a favorite among rock and roll fans of all ages.

This year, in keeping with The Monarch Player's latest tradition, they will be holding an Opening Bloopers Night. Bloopers Night provides the audience a reduced ticket price that is $1 off regular admission and a good belly laugh, both at our expense. Opening Bloopers Night will beat 7 p.m. on April 26.

April 28 will be a ‘50s Date Night. On ‘50s Date Night, the audience is encouraged to dress up in 1950's attire and split a soda with two straws.

Due to the cost of producing Grease, the Monarchs will only be performing two shows so be sure to catch them on either of the nights. Regular admission is $4 for students and $6 for adults.

Children under 5 are always free. All shows begin at 7 p.m. and concessions are available during intermission.
