FARMERSVILLE – Culminating a long and exciting football season, Freedom School in Farmersville held their annual flag football Super Bowl. The game, played in front of the fourth through sixth grade student body, was exciting between the Gators and the Ducks.
The No. 2-seeded Gators held off the undefeated Ducks to capture the elementary school championship with a final score of 38-30. There were some spectacular plays turned in by Gators quarterback Jayden Olea, wide receiver Alex Sanchez, and the go ahead touchdown catch from Rodrigo Martinez. Leading the way for the top seeded Ducks was quarterback Nick Lucatero, running back sensation Isaac Elias, and Michael “the Blaze” Moreno. Every student was a winner because the intramural sports program gets kids moving, and those who are watching excited about sports and exercise. The school’s sports program is now beginning training in basketball. Sign-ups for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students are still being taken for the upcoming basketball season. The cost is free.
