Two Woodlake women were able to graduate from college prior to the first case of COVID in the United States. Desiree Sahagun and Marlene Acosta, both of Woodlake, officially graduated from Fresno Pacific University in December but were able to take part in graduation ceremonies. The two were among 412 graduates at the university’s spring commencement, which took place in the Selland Arena in Fresno. Sahagun received a bachelor’s in social work and graduated Magna Cum Laude (high honors). Acosta received a bachelor’s in liberal arts and graduated Summa Cum Laude (highest honors).
