Lindsay Kiwanis recognizes learners in Lindsay Unified for exemplary character
LINDSAY – Kiwanis is a group of volunteers with the mission of empowering our community to improve the world by making a lasting difference in the lives of children. Lindsay Kiwanis Club recognizes Lindsay Unified School District learners who are thoughtful-enthusiastic-respectful-responsible-inclusive-friendly-inquisitive-capable (TERRIFIC) and who serve their community (school and/or Lindsay). This month, Lindsay Kiwanis Club congratulates and recognizes two learners from Jefferson Elementary School.
Marian Zuniga Soto

Marian Zuniga Soto
7th Grade
Marian never fails to demonstrate her enthusiasm and inquiry about her education. When learning a new concept/topic she is always one of the first to answer and ask if something doesn’t make sense in a respectful manner. Her capability of completing quality work is demonstrated in all content areas. Marian is also very thoughtful, inclusive, and friendly and she demonstrates this on a daily basis in her willingness to help her peers when they are struggling.
Despite facing distance learning struggles that all learners experience, Marian has managed to take her role as a team member in Builders Club seriously and did her part to create face masks for the first service project of the year!
Mia Altermatt

Mia Altermatt
7th Grade
Mia is always respectful in whole group and small group interactions with both her peers and adults. In all of her work and discourse, Mia demonstrates how capable and enthusiastic she is about her education. If there is ever anything she does not understand, she is very inquisitive and will ask for additional information or research it herself. During small group work Mia is inclusive, friendly and thoughtful with her classmates by making sure she supports them if they are having a hard time.
Mia has been involved in Builders Club since the club was organized. She consistently shows up to meetings and participates in service projects.
