Farm show grows education through scholarships

E.M. Tharp partners with World Ag Expo to offer “We Believe in Growing” scholarships to Valley students

TULARE – While the Valley is intent on growing food, they are also intent on growing young minds as high school graduates prepare to go off to college.

This year the International Agri-Center, who hosts The World Ag Expo, partnered with E.M. Tharp to provide the 15th annual “We Believe in Growing” scholarship to support agricultural education for any senior in Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, and Kern counties.

High school seniors are encouraged to apply by Jan. 14, 2022, to be considered. Two seniors who attend a four year-university who major in any agricultural field will receive a $10,000 scholarship. The scholarship will be distributed over four years at $2,500 per year.

E.M. Tharp is known throughout the west as the trucking sales, parts and service provider—a reputation that has been earned through eight decades of pure hard dedication to keeping promises and getting every job done right the first time.

“E.M. Tharp is proud to once again partner with World Ag Expo to host the “We Believe in Growing” Scholarship,” said Casey Tharp, vice president of E.M. Tharp, Inc. “At E.M. Tharp we know agriculture is the backbone of our economy and our youth are our future. By continuing to support the scholarship program we continue to support agriculture, education, and our youth.”

Along with the application, students must submit two letters of recommendation, one copy of high school transcript; and graduate from high school during the 2021-2022 school year. Scholarship winners will be announced in early February and be recognized during World Ag Expo.

“Supporting ag education is the most important thing our organization can do,” said Jerry Sinift, CEO, International Agri-center. “We are proud to work with E.M Tharp to make this scholarship a reality. Funds for education are more important than ever as age continues to innovate for the future.”
