Ivanhoe Community Council shares events and activities for the rest of the year
As the New Year starts. Many of us are already working on our new resolutions, goals, some from previous years, and some new ones we just set out for ourselves.
Our resolution as a community group is to continue to support Ivanhoe as best as we can. This year for us is another opportunity to create community through hosting events, sharing information, and connecting people to the resources they need to live their lives.
We hope to share a brief timeline and preview of some of the activities we are most excited to host and share with Ivanhoe for the upcoming year.
February through April: Our Youth group will get started again the first week of February. We will also begin the planning process for our yearly Summer Night Lights events since applications must be submitted in April to the Tulare County Step Up program.
May and June: Our annual Mother’s and Father’s Day raffles will take place in May and June. These are meant to be as easy and accessible as possible for everyone in Ivanhoe. A ticket for each home is included in the IvanhoeSol newspaper and needs to be dropped off at La Estrellita Market on Ave 328. It is free to enter the raffle. All that is needed is you to fill out the ticket and drop it off.
June through August: Our Summer Night Lights will take place from June to August, days are still to be determined but will take place Thursday nights. Last year the Boys and Girls Club were kind enough to allow us to host our community events and previously we have hosted the event at Ivanhoe Elementary.
October: In October we will have our Make a Difference Day alongside CSET and Waste Management. This is a day for volunteer work and has focussed on cleaning up the community rose garden.
The weeks before Halloween we will host our second annual Trunk or Treat where Ivanhoe residents will be able to drive up to our selected site for candy and other prizes.
November: In November we will do our Movie Night and hope to bring more of these to our community. These consist of a free outdoor movie, popcorn, hot chocolate and cookies.
December: The last month of the year includes our Santa Claus toy give away. Due to COVID last year’s toy event was set up in a drive through manner, however we hope to be able to host an event in which children get to meet with Santa and their friends.
More to Come: Although this calendar represents some of the community events we are especially excited about, we will still continue to meet monthly on the last Tuesday of the month at the Ivanhoe Memorial Building at 7pm. We will also continue to advocate for the community and host additional events as conditions allow. Our goal is always to uplift our community through different means.
