Visalia Players perform the Broadway hit ‘Cabaret’ Sept. 1-10 at Ice House

VISALIA – The Visalia Players will be performing ‘Cabaret’ at the Ice House Theatre from Sept. 1 to 10.

Cabaret takes place in the midst of Germany’s post-World War I economic depression. Set in the seedy Kit Kat Klub, an American author falls in love with Sally Bowles, one of the singers. As the Nazis begin taking control of the government, their lives as well as the atmosphere in the Kit Kat Club begin to change dramatically. This meaty musical serves as a metaphor for the ominous political developments in late Weimar Germany.

‘Cabaret’ is written by Joe Masteroff; music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb; directed by J.P. Rapozo; choreography by Averi Quinn.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2 8 and 9; 2 p.m. matinee on Sept. 3 and 10. Tickets are $16 in advance or $20 at the door. The Ice House Theatre is located at 410 E. Race Ave. in Visalia. For more information, visit visaliaplayers.org.
