Visalia trots out the trout

Parks and Rec holds Winter Trout Derby this Saturday, Jan. 5 at Plaza Park Pond

VISALIA – The fish are jumping and ready for the annual Winter Trout Derby.

Presented by the Visalia Parks and Recreation Department, the annual event will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Plaza Park Pond.

Children ages 15 and under are invited to compete for a catch of their own. Prizes go to the top three total stringer weights in each division. Divisions are split into two age groups, 3-7 years old and 8-15 years old. Participants need to bring their own fishing poles, bait, tackle and fish stringer.

Entry fee is $10 per child in advance or $12 the day of the event as space allows. This event typically sells out so be sure to register your child early.
