The Exeter Chamber of Commerce hosts their 7th annual Exeter Scarecrow Contest in October

EXETER – The recent cool down has brought thoughts of fall to many. If it hasn’t, then this contest will get you thinking about the festivities soon to be hitting Exeter. The Exeter Chamber of Commerce is having their 7th Exeter Scarecrow Contest for the entire month of October.

All businesses, organizations, youth groups, families and individuals are encouraged to join in this artistic, creative, and fun contest. This years theme is “Family, Friendly, Fall, Fun.” There will be prizes for best of show, top non-profit group, top business, top business, family/ individual, and top youth group. First place for best in show will receive a perpetual trophy, and $200 in gift certificates from the Exeter Chamber of Commerce.

To register for the contest, entrants must fill out the form located at Exeter Chamber of Commerce and submit a $10 registration fee made payable to the Exeter Chamber of Commerce. If returned by Sept. 19, the group’s final score will receive a 10% boost.

The contest will run from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31. The scarecrows must be created from scratch and constructed in good taste. No factory-made scarecrows are allowed as all parts must be secured and stuffed by hand.
