My name is Skyler Lindbeck and I am a 17 year old senior at Exeter Union High School. I was born in Lake Tahoe and lived in Carson City, Nev. until seven years ago when my parents decided to move back home, to the small charismatic town of Exeter. Now, it feels like I have been here my entire life. I am quiet, quirky, academically driven and keep myself busy by being involved in many great activities and events. This year I intend to further my participation in both my school and community. The first step towards achieving that goal is running for Miss Exeter!
During my high school career, I have participated in an array of activities. I was on the EUHS Cheerleading squad for both my freshman and sophomore years, I joined Track and Field and ran the 100 and 200 meter race including the long jump. I joined the Drama Club and enjoyed being cast in the play “How to Survive High School”. I am a member of the California Scholastic Federation (CSF), the Future Farmers of America, Friday Night Live and I am one of only two Junior Exeter Woman’s Club members. I was involved in Winter Percussion where I played the electric guitar and I am currently in the Marching and Symphonic band where I play the bass drum. In the future I plan on learning how to play the piano and join the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) Club and Key Club.
Along with the sports and clubs, I take great pride in being able to say that I have made donations to help others in my community. I donated my hair to the Locks of Love, donated my blood to the Central California Blood Center and my time to help teach cheers to the ever so excited and interesting Mini Monarchs. Last year I had the great opportunity to help out The Woman’s Club on several occasions with their Christmas in October and Christmas Home Tour. This spring, if all goes well, I hope to become a counselor at SCICON.
In my years of high school I have managed to obtain over a 3.66 cumulative GPA while being enrolled in the advanced placement classes. Education along with literature has always been my passion. Which is why I want to go to college and major in English and minor in creative writing. Once that is achieved, I intend to spread my love of literature to the youth by becoming a high school English teacher. But not just any teacher…a remarkable teacher. Whilst teaching I will become an author and write an International Best Seller!
Being a Miss Exeter candidate is far out of my comfort zone, which is exactly why I decided to run! I am hoping in the process I will gain helpful knowledge on how to conduct myself in front of others and overall provide me with a great experience, new friends and many wonderful memories. I intend on making my senior year the best and most memorable year of my high school career.
