SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK – You can’t put a price on enjoying the awe-inspiring scope of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. And this weekend, you don’t have to.

In honor of the National Public Lands Day, the National Parks Service is waiving entrance fees at all national parks including Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Known as the Land of Giants, Tulare County’s backyard is home to dramatic landscape testifies to nature’s size, beauty, and diversity—rugged foothills, vast caverns, the nation’s deepest canyon and tallest mountain, as well as the world’s largest trees. These two parks lie side by side in the southern Sierra Nevada and has the most dramatic elevation change of any national park, starting at 1,370 feet and climbing to 14,494 at the peak of Mt. Whitney.

Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and general health. This year, National Public Lands Day falls on Sept. 28, 2019.
