Visalia couple welcomes new baby at Adventist birth center in Tulare as one of several new year’s babies
TULARE – Many welcome the new year as a metaphorical rebirth for their resolutions, but for some it is an actual birth on New Year’s Day.
Adventist Tulare announced last weekend that a Visalia couple rung in the new year with a new addition to their family. Allen Ivan was one of multiple babies born at the Adventist Health Tulare Birth Center on New Year’s Day.
Allen Ivan’s parents, Samantha and Ivan, arrived at the birth center on New Year’s Eve for a scheduled labor induction. Samantha thought she might deliver before midnight, but Allen Ivan was destined to be a 2022 baby, entering the world at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1.
“We were just waiting patiently for him to get here,” Samantha said, adding that they celebrated with apple cider and whistles that arrived with their New Year’s Eve hospital dinner.
Allen Ivan weighs exactly 10 pounds and is 21 inches in length. Samantha explained that they chose the name Allen because she has another son whose name starts with the letter ‘A.’ His middle name, of course, comes from his father.
Samantha and Ivan look forward to bringing their son home and making lots of happy memories.
When asked what’s next, Samantha said, “Just wait for him to grow—watch him grow. And have more children. Maybe in a year or two I’ll be here again.”
