South Valley water agencies form coalition

Valley water agencies banned together last month in response to stricter rules regarding water discharge and storm water runoff.

Because the new regulations require annual monitoring and consulting fees it is estimated to cost each farm $7,000 to $14,000. However, Mendes said as a coalition, they can develop Monitoring and Reporting Plans that will lower that to $3,000 to $6,000 per farm due to economies of scale, spreading annual costs for the entire area throughout the district.
