Shooting victim up and walking

An Exeter man was released from the hospital on Aug. 4, just nine days after being shot five times.

According to the Exeter Police Department, Efrain Oseguera, 21, has been seen walking around town, albeit with a slight limp. Oseguera was taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital after being shot at about 7:30 p.m. on July 26. He was listed in critical but stable condition as of Aug. 2.

The man arrested in connection with the shooting, 35-year-old Jose Preciado, pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted homicide at an arraignment hearing on July 28. A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 20 in Department 12 of the Tulare County Superior Court.

The Exeter Police Department said Oseguera and Preciado knew each other from an ongoing dispute. When they crossed paths walking in the 100 block of South H Street, they began another heated argument. The argument culminated with the shooting.

Preciado, who lives down the street, got in his car and drove away. Police officers stopped Preciado on I Street and arrested him in connection with the shooting.
