DSL is now available in Exeter

Verizon Online is raising the speed limit in 11 communities throughout California with the introduction of its high-speed digital subscriber line (DSL) Internet access service for consumers and businesses.

DSL is now available to residents in Exeter, Lindsay, Strathmore, Reedley, Sanger, Clements, Farmington, Lathrop, Linden, Manteca and Ripon.

This month, Verizon Online is extending its lowest prices to customers who subscribe to an annual DSL plan, which includes a free combination modem and "home gateway" router with the service. The home gateway enables DSL customers to share their DSL connection among multiple computers in their home.

"Verizon Online offers affordable high-speed Internet access," said Michael Page, external affairs manager for Verizon. "Our customers can really experience the Internet fast-lane to listen to music, play games, watch [Major League] Baseball [games broadcast through Internet], shop, work from home and a million other things. We're pleased to bring the benefits to additional communities in California."

The DSL service is available with a maximum download speed of 1.5 megabits per second and an upload speed of 384 kilobits per second, about seven times faster than traditional dial-up connection. Verizon said the service costs $29.95 a month when Exeter or Lindsay residents sign up for an annual service plan or if you sign up for the online and telephone package. Other residents will pay $34.95 a month for this service.
