Lindsay's City Councilwomen lead ladies lunch

Lindsay's City Council-women are coming together to promote a special event to celebrate, encourage, and inspire the women of their community.

Mayor Pro-Tem Pam Kimball and City Coun-cilwoman Suzi Picasso will be playing host to the Leading Ladies Luncheon 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, March 31 at Sweet Brier Plaza, corner of Sweet Brier Avenue and Honolulu Street in Lindsay. The event is open to all, including men, with a special emphasis on attracting a diversity of women, including girls from Lindsay High School and Steve Garvey Junior High School.

&#8220Too many women/young ladies in our community do not recognize their individual worth and are selling themselves short,” Kimball wrote in a letter to the community. &#8220Without more guidance and encouragement, they will not develop their potential, and this will hurt us all. Whatever community projects we may do, we cannot be a great community without a population of women who feel good about themselves, know they are valued, and are aware of avenues for self-expression, connection with others, and making meaningful contributions.

&#8220A simple luncheon can't do all that, but it is a start.”

Kimball said women should picture a beautiful setting, a fine day, ladies in spring dresses enjoying a delicious lunch, and a motivational speaker. Speeches will be directed towards uplifting all attendees.

&#8220The more future ‘leading ladies' there are mingling with current ‘leading ladies' the better,” Kimball wrote.

Businesses are encouraged to sponsor a table of eight for $150. Tables will carry the sponsor's name. Individual tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets are limited and are selling fast.
