Under Friday Night Lights

The Strathmore Spartans look to be getting back to their winning ways. On Friday, Sept. 14, the Spartans showed they can still score points with a young team. Even though it was the offense doing the scoring it was the Spartans defense that made a bigger statement.

On the Offensive side of the ball it was Cody Styles who was making the most noise. Styles would run for 280 yards on the night with two touchdown runs.

The Spartans would score every quarter to defeat the Orosi Cardinals 30-7. The Spartans will be home on Friday, Sept. 21, against McFarland with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Strathmore is now 2-2 on the season.

On Thursday, Sept. 20 the Farmersville Aztecs took on the McLane Highlanders in a non league contest. For the Aztecs new head coach David Lewis, this was his first time taking on his former team since taking over at Farmersville.

The Highlanders would jump out to an early 20-0 lead in the first half. In the second half of the game it was the Aztecs who were making some noise but it was just not enough as the Aztecs fall to the Highlanders 26-19.

The Aztecs are now 0-3 on the season and will be taking on Minarets on Friday, Sept. 21 in O’neals CA. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
