Country Western Fun with a Kick!

Put on your boots and tighten your saddle next week, because Lindsay’s gonna have some Country Western Fun … with a kick!

The Lindsay Chamber of Commerce will hold its 27th annual Lindsay Chili Cook-Off from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Sweet Brier Plaza in downtown Lindsay. Regardless of the weather, it’s gonna be a hot one with some of the best chili, salsa and jalapenos west of the Mississippi. Five popular events return to the Cook-Off – the Best Chili, Best Salsa, Best Booth, Jalapeno Eating Contest and Pie Eating Contest.

Best Chili will ride off a $500 prize while second and third place winners will get $200 and $100 prizes. Best Salsa will rustle up $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. Best Booth will pull in $50. The winner of the Jalapeno Eating Contest will wrangle a $50 gift certificate. The winner of the Pie Eating Contest will saddle up with a $25 gift certificate. There is a $50 entry fee for the Best Chili competition and a $10 entry fee for the Best Salsa competition. There is no entry fee for Best Booth or the Jalapeno or Pie Eating Contest. If your stomach can’t handle chili all day, there will also be food vendors at the Plaza and live music for your entertainment.
