The Cardinals found themselves down 18-14 after one quarter of play. Lindsay battled and with just over two minutes left in the half took a 27-24 lead, but Corcoran regained the lead. Angel Cortez was fouled and calmly made two free throws giving the lead back to Lindsay at 29-28.
Corcoran would regain the lead before Pablo Bolanos sunk a field goal to put Lindsay up 31-30. Corcoran would go up once again and looked to go into half time with 32-31 lead, but Gaven Mann hit a three pointer at the buzzer to give Lindsay a 34-32 half time lead.
The Panthers came out of half time to battled back and led 50-44 at the end of three quarters of play. Lindsay would overcome their slow start in the third quarter to start off strong in the fourth when Mann made a basket and was fouled. He made the free throw and the Panther lead was cut to one.
Both the Panthers and Cardinals traded scores before Mann drained a three pointer to tie the game at 56 with 3:24 left.
Both teams continued to trade baskets and with 2:00 left Cardinal Jeff See was fouled. He stepped up to the line and made both free throws giving Lindsay the 60-58 lead. With Corcoran cooling down and started missing shots, the Cardinals started to take control in the paint. Jacob Hernandez was fouled after a rebound and was sent to the line. He made one making the score 61-58.
Corcoran would silence the Lindsay crowd when they made a three pointer to tie the game at 61 with 44 seconds left.
Lindsay turned the last few seconds of the game into a nail bitter as the Cardinals lost the ball out of bounds giving the ball and what looked like the game to the Panthers. Angel Cortez came up big for the Cardinals as he stole the Panthers inbound pass and was immediately fouled. With 19 seconds left to play in the tied game, Cortez, with so much pressure on his shoulders drained both free throws, giving the Cardinals a 63-61 lead.
Corcoran looked to take the lead once again on a three pointer, but Hernandez was able to get a hand on the shot and Mann recovered the loose ball. The Panthers quickly fouled him sending Mann to the free throw line. Mann would sink both shots giving the game its final score of 65-61.
With the victory over the Panthers the Cardinals finished the week with two league victories. On Jan. 22 the Cardinals defeated the Woodlake Tigers 72-55 in an East Sequoia League matchup.
The Cardinals find themselves a game behind first place Granite Hills and Corcoran with the victory. Lindsay will be at home on Friday Feb. 1 to take on Sierra Pacific. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
