Caltrans continues work on Hwy. 137

The Sun-Gazette

Lindsay residents might want to get a 20 minute head start on their daily commute.

The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced last week that lane closures will continue on 137 starting at the Highway 65 junction heading west toward Tulare.

Caltrans will reduce Highway 137 to one lane in each direction between the Highway 65 junction and Morrison Street (road 120) in Tulare today, Sept. 24 and tomorrow, Sept. 25 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Lane closures will also occur on Friday, Sept. 26 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.

During construction operations, delays can last for up to 20 minutes.  Commuters are encouraged to avoid these areas during project work hours and use alternate routes if possible. Closures may continue for longer periods of time if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur during road construction procedures.

Reckless or inattentive drivers traveling through Work Zone Areas have caused the majority of Work Zone Deaths.  Caltrans wants to remind drivers to stay attentive and undistracted while driving and to be cognizant of workers and vehicles in Construction and Maintenance Areas and slow down while driving through Work Zones.
