exeter – The Exeter Union High School administration were on high alert Friday, Feb. 19 when the police were told of a gun on campus.

Approximately 10 minutes after the final bell rang the Exeter Police Department received a call of a student carrying a weapon.

EPD investigated the situation for nearly 20 minutes while the school was locked down before coming to the conclusion that the student was toting a fake gun for a history in film course.

“The student saw the gun and immediately called 9-1-1. The Police arrived and we wouldn’t have had them handle it any other way,” said Exeter Unified School District Superintendent Tim Hire.
