Tulare County Library debuts new web site

TulareCountyLibrary.org gives more research options to Tulare County readers

VISALIA – In Tulare County, research is tough to come by for some people. Sometimes it is because they do not have Internet access, and other times it is because of a lack of depth on a subject. But for anyone looking to do research through the Tulare County Library’s web site, they may be pleasantly surprised at the options available to them now.

Having debuted in September, the Library staff’s hard work created an eye-catching web interface. The new site is attractive and responsive to handheld devices and surpasses its previous web presence and app.

The web site includes a page for each of the 17 branch libraries, a Google map with locator, a list of staff recommendations, new research programs and databases featuring the EBSCOhost Discovery Search, and a new online catalog interface called Enterprise. Additional new features include a page devoted to children’s programs with a link to Kids Overdrive for downloadable e-books. And there’s more: check out their updated policies, attractive photos of Tulare County, events calendars that share what is happening in all library branches, and links to volunteer opportunities.

In unveiling their new web site and catalog, the Tulare County Library asks for two things:

“Your patience – The site is different than our previous web site. So take time to learn and become comfortable and familiar with the interface. Library staff at all locations is more than willing and excited to help you navigate and find the information needed. Don’t hesitate to give them a call at 559-713-2703 or click on the ‘?’ at the bottom of the page to send us a message.

“Your help – If you find there is a link that does not work properly or there is a misspelled word or text does not align right, let staff know so that our design team can fix these issues early.  We might miss small details here and there especially at the beginning stages of unveiling our design, so your input would be much appreciated. We want to remedy these as soon as we can.”

The Tulare County Library serves all the citizens of Tulare County with locations in 17 communities, four book machines, and online at www.tularecountylibrary.org.  Like the Library on Facebook www.facebook.com/tularecountylibrary or follow us on Twitter twitter.com/TulareCountyLib.
