Woodlake Valley Chamber will crown Miss Woodlake 2017 at Nov. 5 dinner/pageant

WOODLAKE – Who will reign as Miss Woodlake for the next year? Will it be a cook, a dancer, a farmer, a computer programmer, an agribusiness leader or a plant scientist? The community of Woodlake will find out this Sunday when the Woodlake Valley Chamber of Commerce will crown Miss Woodlake 2017.

The annual scholarship pageant dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Woodlake Memorial Building, 355 N. Acacia St. in Woodlake. Tickets are $20 can be purchased at the door or from any candidate. The price includes dinner provided by the Kiwanis Club of Woodlake. But before you go, here is a little bit about the eight girls vying for the tiara:

Skye Perez is the daughter of Pauline Botello. After graduation Skye is going to Tulare Adult School to pursue her career in culinary arts. Despite working after school, Skye find time to be involved with two clubs, Tiger Fusion and Recycle Club at Woodlake High School.

Pia Martinez is the daughter of Richard and Shirley Martinez. Pia’s plans after high school are to attend a four year university and study agriculture. She is active both mentally physically as a member of FFA, Lighthouse and Book Club, as well as a member of the cheer and swim teams.

Gabriela Aguilar is the daughter of Humberto and Lorena Aguilar. After graduation she plans on attending Fresno State to pursue a degree in computer programming. Gabriela is a triple threat on and off the field. She is involved in Key Club, Interact, Drama, the Tiger band color guard and plays tennis, soccer, and golf.

Dominique Franco is the daughter Alicia and Salvador Franco. After high school she plans on attending COS before transferring south to pursue her career in performing arts at a school in Los Angeles. Dominique is involved with Shape, Mexican Folk Dance, soccer, and swimming.

Crystal Sandoval is the daughter of Romero and Jessica Sandoval. Crystal plans on attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to pursue a degree in plant science to become a pest control advisor. She is involved with FFA, Lighthouse, Basketball, Football, My Voice, and Drama.

Genesis Gonzalez is the daughter of Fabien and Beatriz Gonzalez. She plans to attend Sacramento State University and major in social work. Genesis is involved in many clubs such as Shape, GSA, Interact, Key Club, Drama, My voice, Tiger fusion, and Recycle Club.

Kiara Benavides is the daughter of Miguel and Veronica Benavides. Kiara’s plans after high school are to attend UC Davis and major in agriculture communications. She is already a leader on campus being involved in ASB, FFA, Drama, CSF, as well as playing tennis and soccer.

Claudia Zacharias is the daughter Juan and Nicole Macias. Her plans after high school are to attend Cal Lutheran to major in biology before pursuing a degree in dentistry. Claudia is involved in many clubs such as drama, Helping One Woman (HOW), soccer, softball, and CSF.
