A memorial service for Jacquelyne Ann (Moye) Capps of Exeter, Calif. will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28 at the Exeter United Methodist Church followed by a reception at the church.
Jackie Capps, 92, was born Feb. 3, 1925 in Exeter, Calif. to Alva and Phebe (Wirht) Moye. Jackie attended Exeter schools, graduating from Exeter Union High School in 1943. While in high school Jackie was student body secretary and worthy advisor of the Rainbow Girls.
Jackie married George William “Bill” Capps on April 9, 1944 in the Exeter United Methodist Church. Over the years, Jackie worked for various businesses in Exeter. She worked 25 years for Dr. Ray Perkinson. After retiring in 1997 she volunteered at the Exeter Mural Gallery.
Jackie was a charter member of the Exeter Garden Club. She was also a member of the Exeter United Methodist Church and served as treasurer for many years. A highlight in Jackie’s life was her bridge club. The club met once a month to play bridge. Later they began meeting for lunch monthly to celebrate birthdays. The bridge club stayed together for over 60 years.
Jackie will be long remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and love for all her family. She remembered everyone’s birthday and was sure to send a card. Jackie and her husband Bill were very active in and supportive of the city of Exeter.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 73 years, Bill, her son Rodney (Felicia), grandsons Jordan and Parker, granddaughter Christy Simpson, great-grandson Ashton Simpson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Crafton and Alva “Bud” Moye and her sister Gwynne Janell.
