Dr. Kathryn Uhrich is featured speaker at Woman’s Club’s Mother/Daughter Tea on May 2


EXETER – Exeter Union High School senior girls, and their mothers, will have the opportunity to hear from a woman who started as a small town girl and is now one of the premiere researchers in her field.

Dr. Kathryn E. Uhrich will be the featured speaker at the Exeter Woman’s Club’s annual Mother/Daughter Tea on May 2. Uhrich is Dean of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and Professor of Chemistry at University of California, Riverside. 

Her keynote address will focus on the steps she has taken from her early life in North Dakota to the place she holds today with more than 70 U.S. and International patents, and close partnerships with companies such as Chanel, DuPont, Exxon Mobil, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck. She holds a doctorate in organic chemistry from Cornell University, and her bachelor’s degree in chemistry, with honors, from the University of North Dakota.  Widely recognized as a leading innovator in polymer research, Dr. Uhrich’s research focuses on designing bioactive, biodegradable polymers for use in drug delivery, food safety and personal care. 

The ladies of the EWC along with catering sponsor, Hometown Emporium will serve a Tea Style lunch to an estimated 130 attendees at the historic Exeter Woman’s Club building at 201 N. Kaweah Ave. This Annual event has been a Woman’s Club offering for over 40 years.
