STRATHMORE – What was a routine traffic stop for Tulare County law enforcement became an arrest resulting with one less gang member, a gun, and a mask that looks like it was taken straight from the set of the movie The Purge, off the street.

Lino Almanza, 24, of Strathmore was arrested last Thursday, May 31 when detective swith the Tulare Area Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (TAGNET) attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Avenue 196 and Road 230, in the town of Strathmore.

The vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit was initiated. The vehicle ultimately stopped near Balfour Drive and Lawson Drive, in Strathmore, and the front passenger fled from the vehicle.

Almanza was detained without further incident. He is an active gang member and on active felony probation out of Tulare County. He also had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.

During the search of the vehicle, Detectives located a loaded .45 caliber handgun, ammunition, and a mask.
