Six other children are removed from foster home after woman allegedly hospitalized her foster child
VISALIA – A foster mother was arrested for child abuse after one of her children was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Visalia Police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of East Sunnyview for a report of a child who had fallen at about 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 12. When officers arrived they found an 18-month-old child who was unresponsive and did not have injuries consistent with a fall.
The child was taken by ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center and later transferred to Valley Children’s Hospital. A joint investigation by the Valley Children’s Child Abuse team and Visalia Police Department Violent Crimes Unit led to the determination that these life-threatening injuries were the result of child abuse inflicted by the foster mother, 29-year-old Darlene Valdovinos-Aguilera.
On Aug. 17, VPD officers arrested Valdovinos-Aguilera and booked her at the Tulare County Pretrial Facility for child abuse related charges. Six other children were removed from the residence by Tulare County Child Welfare Services. None of these additional children are believed to be victims of child abuse.
