Spartans eliminated in quarterfinals
For a third year, Strathmore has been booted from the Division IV playoffs in the quarterfinals. Last week, it came at the hands of the No. 3-seeded Chowchilla Tribe 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 9-25).

Greyhounds beat Exeter
Exeter entered the Division II playoffs peeking in all areas of the game, but it still was not enough to advance. The No. 8-seeded Monarchs were upset last week by the No. 9-seeded Atascadero Greyhounds 8-6. Exeter’s Megan Nickell and Katelyn Berry each had two goals. Morgan Weldon had six saves and a steal in the net for the Monarchs.

Blazers washed out of D-II playoffs
No. 12-seeded Golden West lost their opening round D-II matchup 10-7 to the fifth-seeded Garces Rams last week.
Youth Basketball
Registration opens for basketball league
The Exeter Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting registration for the 2019 youth basketball season. All boys and girls in kindergarten to eighth grade are encouraged to join. Players will learn the basic skills of the sport as well as the importance of team play and good sportsmanship. League play is tentatively set to begin on Jan. 12. Teams will have one practice a week. Registration fee is $50 if paid by Friday, Nov. 16. The fee will increase to $60 after that date. If your player wishes to attend a basketball camp it is $65 if paid by the same date and increases to $75 afterward. The department will next accept registration forms at Straw Hat Pizza (1111 W. Visalia Rd.) on Nov. 13 and 14.
