VISALIA – What’s better than eating a Girl Scout cookie? Try having one on top of a cupcake.

Goodies Cookies topped their delicious cupcakes with whole and crumbles of their favorite Girl Scout cookies this past weekend as part of National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. The local bakery sold the special Scout-inspired treats on Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, Feb. 23 with cupcakes incorporating Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Sandwiches. It was the second year that Goodies Cookies participated in the weekend event where Girl Scouts also sold their famous cookies in front of the store, located at 1613 E. Noble Ave. in Visalia.

“It’s our way to help promote the Girl Scouts but also help our business,” said co-owner Sandy Gaalswyk.

The exclusive offering was part of a promotional weekend where Girl Scouts of Central California South partnered with 11 local eateries across the Council’s five county footprint in Fresno, Madera, Kern, Kings, and Tulare County. The event celebrated the impactful entrepreneurial program that has sparked the success of millions of women by offering off-menu items. Another Visalia favorite, Quesadilla Gorilla, offered Thin Mint and Lemonades quesadillas at its Fresno location, 608 E. Weldon Ave. Also in Fresno, Ampersand Ice Cream sold Strawberry Shortbread, Salted Caramel Caramel deLite, Thin Mints & Cream, Peanut Butter Patty Sundae. Dewar’s Candy Shop in Bakersfield churned out Thin Mint Ice Cream. Wafflicious in Clovis offered a Gold Award, Curvy Mint, and Caramel deWaffle waffle creations.

The local business partnership for the Cookie Weekend is an opportunity for the eateries to create a Girl Scout inspired treat while Girl Scouts set up Cookie booths in front of their selected locations. Doing so encourages customers to stock up on Cookie favorites and promotes the eatery location in a fun, creative way.

A National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend Patch will be displayed at official partnering locations. Customers can also find local Girl Scouts at each location throughout the weekend.
