OBF parade means it’s time to party in Lindsay

87th annual Orange Blossom Festival Parade is April 13, this year’s theme is “It’s Fiesta Time!”

LINDSAY – After a cold and wet winter, Lindsay residents are ready to get outside, get reacquainted with neighbors, and get into spring. In other words, it’s time for Orange Blossom Festival.

The 87th annual Orange Blossom Festival Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the cor-ner of Elmwood Avenue and Honolulu Street. The parade will head north along Elmwood across town to Sierra View Avenue, where fun, food and festivities await at Lindsay City Park.

The theme of this year’s parade is “It’s Fiesta Time!”. There is no entry fee to participate in the parade so gather your friends, church group, family, school club, or organization and join in the fun.

Entry forms can be found at lindsayorangeblossom.org and must be returned by Monday, April 8. Forms should include a short description of your entry, which will be read by the announcer as you pass by the judging table. Feel free to be creative in your narrative.

Parade entries will be judged during the parade; however, floats may be judged before the parade. Float requirements include a trailer being pulled by a vehicle, or a flatbed truck, decorated according to the theme. A standard decorated truck will not be considered a float.

First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in the following categories: floats, equestrian, marching band, baton/music, vehicles, and miscellaneous. First place float will receive $300, second place $200, and third place $100. The first place winners in equestrian and marching band will receive $200. All other winners will receive a plaque.
