Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest male student on charges of making terrorist threats
STRATHMORE – Normally a student’s biggest concern at a graduation ceremony is what to draw on the top of their hat to help them stand out in the crowd. But students and parents at Strathmore Middle School were concerned about the event becoming violent after a student threatened to “shoot up” the graduation ceremony.
At about 11 a.m. on May 20, Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Strathmore Middle School in response to the student’s threats. After speaking with Strathmore Unified School Unified School District Administrators, deputies went to the home of the student, whose name is being withheld because he is under the age of 18, where they arrested him for making terrorist threats. He was later booked into the Juvenile Justice Center. Deputies later served a search warrant to search the boy’s home as well as a relative’s home. The Sheriff’s Department did not report finding any plans or weapons.
