Tulare police turnover shooting investigation involving a boyfriend and girlfriend to sheriff’s office

TULARE – Tulare County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man who allegedly shot his girlfriend.

Last Friday, Jan. 17, just after 10:30 p.m., officers  with the Tulare Police Department were called to the area of I Street and Tulare Avenue in Tulare for a shooting. The victim, a 21-year-old woman was flown to an area hospital for treatment. She is currently in critical condition.

Through the initial investigation, the Tulare Police Department determined the actual shooting happened in the 2600 block of Alpine Ave in the unincorporated area of Tulare. Tulare PD then contacted the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and Detectives took over the investigation.

Detectives identified the suspect as 23-year-old Marcos Lau, the boyfriend of victim. Lau and the victim have a child in common and live together. Lau was initially arrested by the Tulare Police Department on an unrelated warrant. He is now being charged with attempted murder and was booked at the adult pre-trial facility.
