Exeter man killed in drive-by shooting

58-year-old man was standing outside his home near Filbert Road and Maple Street when he was shot

EXETER – An Exeter man was gunned down last week during a drive-by shooting. 

At about 8 p.m. on Jan. 22, Exeter police officers responded to the area of Filbert Road and Maple Street for a report of a man who was shot. 

When officers arrived, they found a 58-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bystanders had already started administering first aid before first responders took over. The man was transported by ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The man’s name was not released as of press time.

Witnesses reported the man was standing outside when a vehicle drove up and one of the occupants opened fire. The victim was struck multiple times and a neighboring residence was also struck by the gunfire. The neighbor living in that home was struck by shards of glass caused by a bullet penetrating the window. The neighbor suffered minor injuries but he declined medical attention.
