STRATHMORE – A Strathmore man was killed last week after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

At 10:22 p.m. on April 6, a 76-year-old man was riding his Roadmaster 10-speed bike eastbound on Avenue 192 when a 2008 Toyota sedan rear ended his back tire west of Road 200. Subsequently, the left front of the Toyota collided with the bicycle and the rider was ejected from the bike.

According to the California Highway Patrol, poor lighting conditions and the bicyclist’s dark colored clothing made it difficult for the driver to see the bicyclist ahead of him.

The male rider, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, succumbed to injuries at the scene as a result of the collision. The driver of the car, 26-year-old Xavier Perez of Lindsay, was unharmed.
