DUI driver crashes on the ‘rocks’

Visalia PD arrests Anthony Galindo for driving under the influence when he crashed in Rogers Jewelry Co.

VISALIA – Jewelry stores are always a risk for break-ins, but not drive-ins.

According to the Visalia Police Department, Anthony Galindo, 27, drove his Chevy Truck into Rogers Jewelry Co. on Sunday, June 28. At 9:20 p.m. patrol officers responded to the 2000 block of W. Caldwell for a report of a vehicle collision into a structure. Officers found Galindo trapped inside his truck which was approximately 10 feet into the business.

Extensive damage to the building and a broken fire hydrant required a response from Visalia Fire, Cal Water, Visalia City Buildings Inspector, and two tow trucks to safely remove the vehicle. Galindo was transported for treatment of his injuries. Galindo was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested. No other vehicles were involved and there were no other injuries.

At 10:33 a.m., Visalia Police Department narcotics unit made contact with Brandon Rigoberto Flores, 30, at a residence in the 700 block of south Jacob to investigate. Upon further investigation, over 31 pounds of processed marijuana packaged in one-pound individual bags for sales and over approximately $8,300.00 in U.S. currency was found and seized. Flores was arrested for possession of marijuana for sales and released at the scene on a citation without incident.
