Scarecrow tradition still standing despite pandemic

Exeter Chamber of Commerce hosts 9th annual scarecrow contest to encourage people to shop local

EXETER – Tradition is not easily broken in Exeter and even though this year’s scarecrow contest might take on a different feel it is happening nonetheless.

For the ninth year in a row the Exeter Chamber of Commerce is holding their October scarecrow contest. They said early this month that despite COVID-19 they want to encourage the community and remind people of the importance to shop local.

“We feel that people can still get out and safely view all of our amazing scarecrows. We will be encouraging visitors to stop in and pick-up an item from a local shop or a take-out meal from one of our wonderful restaurants, while they are out and about looking at all the scarecrows,” the chamber’s press release stated.
