Tulare Police search for car involved in homicide

Police say driver of black Jeep Wrangler collided with victim’s car, then shot the man before fleeing

TULARE – Tulare Police officers are asking for the public’s help to find a vehicle they said was involved in a homicide.

Just after 2 a.m. on June 5, the Tulare Police Department received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of North West Street and West Prosperity Avenue in Tulare. It appeared the vehicle had been involved in a traffic collision but officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers and paramedics attempted to perform life saving measures on the victim but due to the severity of the injuries, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Nalen Peterson of Visalia.

This marks the fourth homicide of the year in the city of Tulare.

On Monday, detectives identified the suspect vehicle as a black, four-door Jeep Wrangler with standard tires and wheels. The vehicle should have driver-side damage and will have paint transfer marks from its collision with the victim’s vehicle.
