Unidentified motorcycle rider crashes into Dodge Ram truck on Avenue 56 west of Old Stage Road
TULARE COUNTY – A motorcyclist died after a head on collision with a Dodge Ram on Saturday night, well east of Ducor.
According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) collision report, at approximately 1:15 p.m., officers from the CHP Porterville area responded to a call of a traffic collision on Avenue 56 west of Old Stage Road, with medical personnel responding. During the preliminary investigation it was determined an unidentified 47-year-old male from Visalia was riding a 2016 Harley Davidson westbound on Avenue 56, west of Old Stage Road, at an unknown speed.
James Baxley, 84, from Hot Springs, Calif. was driving 2001 Dodge eastbound on Avenue 56, approaching the rider, at an unknown speed. As the rider entered a right sweeping curve, he allowed the Harley Davidson to traverse the painted solid double yellow lines and drive westbound into the eastbound traffic lanes. Subsequently, the front of the Harley Davidson crashed into the front of the Dodge. As a result of the crash, the rider succumbed to his injuries. It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor of this collision. This collision remains under investigation.

At approximately 8:26 p.m., officers from the Visalia California Highway Patrol (CHP) office responded to a call of a two-vehicle traffic collision involving a big rig and a passenger vehicle southbound Highway 99 at Tulare Avenue, with medical personnel responding. The investigation revealed an unidentified female was driving a 2003 Honda and entering southbound Highway 99 from Tulare Avenue. The female driver lost control of the Honda and traveled directly into the path of a 2015 Volvo big rig which was traveling southbound on Highway 99 in the No. 2 lane at 55 miles per hour. Soroosh Lankarani was unable to stop the Volvo before it struck the drivers side of the Honda. As a result of the collision, the driver and passenger of the Honda sustained fatal injuries. The collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
At approximately 7:05 p.m., officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Porterville Area Office responded to a call of a traffic collision on Road 236 north of Avenue 68, with medical personnel responding. During the preliminary investigation it was determined Crystal Morales, 23, from Terra Bella, was driving a 2016 Honda Accord northbound on Road 236, north of Avenue 68, and was traveling at an unknown speed. Valentin Carranza, 41, from Earlimart was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Road 236, north of Avenue 68, and was traveling at 45 to 50 mph. Morales began to pass other northbound traffic and drove over painted solid double yellow lines, onto the opposite lane. As a result of this driving maneuver, the front of the Honda collided with the front of the Chevrolet. After the collision, Morales was transported to Bakersfield Memorial Hospital by air ambulance and suffered major injuries and both Carranza and the passenger of the Chevrolet were transported by ground ambulance to Kaweah Health Medical Center, both with moderate injuries. This collision remains under investigation.
